Founded in 1971 in Relecq-Kerhuon, the association The White Butterflies of Finistère produces easy-to-read and easy-to-understand transcriptions created by the team of its Esat in Cornouaille.
The association The White Butterflies of Finistère manages various social and health care facilities in Brittany, with a headquarters based in Relecq-Kerhuon since 1971. Its accessibility offering draws directly on the skills of workers in its Esat.
The team converts various documents into easy-to-read and easy-to-understand format: administrative forms, magazines or hospital leaflets. Each text favours direct phrasing, simplified vocabulary and explanatory pictograms.
Launched in 2020, this workshop brings together eight workers with intellectual disabilities, including four transcribers and four reviewers, supervised by a trainer qualified in FALC (easy-to-read French) by Unapei. The writing and critical review by users determine whether the FALC mark is awarded.
The organisation has notably adapted the magazine Pen Ar Bed for the departmental council. It has also created materials for Omedit Brittany and election manifestos for political parties in regional and departmental elections. Its work includes a convention with the CD29, the electoral registration form for Brest and a document on the 2021 Tour de France.

Within the Cornouaille Esat workshop, the unit converts conventions, administrative procedures, hospital leaflets, magazines and election manifestos into easy-to-read and easy-to-understand format. The texts are co-written and then reviewed by workers with intellectual disabilities, in accordance with the requirements of the FALC mark.
