Groupe Malecot
Lille, Hauts-de-France
Born from a first Esat opened in Comines in 1963, Groupe Malécot in Lille adapts all types of writing into easy-to-read and easy-to-understand format, from transcription to printing.
A division of the White Butterflies of Lille, Groupe Malécot was founded from a first Esat in Comines in 1963. It brings together across nine sites in the Lille metropolitan area a supported employment service, an adapted company and a social and occupational integration service. 225 professionals there supervise nearly 1,100 adults living with intellectual development difficulties.
The team adapts all materials according to the rules of easy-to-read and easy-to-understand format. Clients receive administrative documents, questionnaires or exhibition booklets, with layout and printing.
Fifty people are trained in this transcription. A group of workers and a supervisor-trainer adapt the texts, reviewed by a second team. At the end of 2023, the Esat obtained the FALC Quality Mark, which guarantees the effective participation of people living with intellectual development difficulties at all stages.
These services are aimed at public and private actors. The company has worked with the City of Lille and the Social Security Fund, as well as with the Archives of Nord and the Museum of Fine Arts in Lille.
