Founded in 2009 in Toulouse, IRIS LSF is an association dedicated to teaching French sign language. Its trainers are deaf and qualified. The organisation holds Qualiopi and Certif'Région certifications for its training provision.
On the accessibility front, the organisation provides video translation into French sign language and subtitling. It has access to an equipped video studio and digitises old audiovisual archives from cassettes.
It also trains deaf people, particularly foreign nationals, in French sign language and written French. The association runs intensive courses and evening classes at EUR 7.50 per hour, or EUR 450 for 60 hours. It prepares learners for the DCL, a diploma awarded by the French Education Ministry.
Its work extends to educational establishments and businesses across Occitanie. The CNRS, EDF, Airbus and Jean Jaurès University have already used its services.
